Local Businessman Phil Truscott running for FCRC Division 2

Just like his grandfather (Billy Boys, founder of Boys Department Stores - Now where Dimmeys trades) Phil Truscott has put his hand up to stand for Division 2 (Tinana to Glenwood - Boompa to Boonooroo) in the upcoming Fraser Coast Council Regional Elections on Saturday March 3. Born & raised in Maryborough, Phil worked for his father, Neil Truscott till 17 then moved to Brisbane to study at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music & became a musician in the Award winning Gospel group “Family” who enjoyed 2 #1 hits & several Top 40 singles in the 70s. They are still the only Australian gospel group in Australian history to have #1 hits on mainstream radio. After several years Phil moved back to Maryborough to run his 77 year old family business and then started the very successful Foley Truscott Partnership in 1985 with his long term mate Chris Foley who had earlier moved to live & set up a recording studio on a property in Tiaro. Phil worked with Chris in this business until Chris moved on to become State Government Member in 2003. Foley Truscott Financial Services was the first Financial Planning business on the Fraser Coast. This, now well established business, went on from strength to strength growing its offices & clients from Maryborough & Hervey Bay to also having offices in Brisbane & Sydney with another local Paul Scales. It is this real life experience, plus all the experience from other varied & management occupations in retail, wholesale, teaching, financial, banking, music & industrial that gives Phil the qualifications to become a valued team member of the new Fraser Coast Council. Of course, starting any business has its ups & downs. Phil knows what it’s like & how it feels to have nothing, and fight for every dollar earned. He also knows what it feels like to have to improve efficiency, cut costs & to eventually win. As a community & indeed a country we are going through hard times, and so hard decisions & efficiency improvements may have to be made to improve services in our entire region. An area of extreme importance is to ensure that all areas of the beautiful Fraser Coast get a fair share of funding in every area of need, be it new roads, parks, recreation areas, drainage, public toilets, maintenance of these areas, business assistance, large & small developments, tourism etc…
